My main camera is a Nikon D700, full frame and a Nikon D500 both with various Nikkor, Sigma and Tamron lenses. I also have a number of manual AI film lens which can be used on the D700 and D500 - They produce a very nice picture.
I also have 2 backup cameras, a D5200 and a D5100. Most of my portfolio was shot on the D5200, before picking up the D700 at the start of 2016.
Hi, I'm Mike, here's a little bit about myself.
Having spent 20 years in the Computer Industry the time has come to look at something new, creative and rewarding. A challenge to expand my horizons, meet people and to achieve my goals. That new path is photography.
I've always been interested in photography and had a raw knowledge of composition and light but never really pushed myself to learn and achieve more with it, it was always just a hobby and one I enjoyed doing when I found the time.
Now I may have gone for a slower introduction to photography but instead I ended up jumping straight in. At the start of 2015 I was asked to shoot the stills/behind the scenes pictures for a short film, now being a massive film fan and the chance to work on a film set was a opportunity I was not going to turn down. So I found myself on set and possible a little out of my comfort zone, with a borrowed Sony A57 and nothing more than some notes I found on the internet I went for it. I'm not saying they were the best set but there were some which really worked. The thing was now I had a taste for it and I wanted to work on more films. I bought my own kit and looked for more work. Luckily from attending film festivals I knew a number of people in the film industry and soon I was involved in a number of projects through out the year. Even getting flown over to Ireland to work on a short film there. All brilliant experiences and a great learning curve for me, even with a few tricky night shoots the quality of the pictures improved with each film set I worked on.
It's not all been film set work, I have had a promotional cover for a single, actress head shots and portfolio and a commercial shoot for a company's new web site. I have shot a wedding and have a couple more booked in for 2017. I've also shot some glamour portfolio's as well and now looking to expand my knowledge of shooting models and working in studios.
